The High Valley Climb
The High Valley Climb in the Bernauer Hochtal is a truly wonderful hiking experience. It has been awarded the title "Premium Hiking Trail" and "Black Forest Gourmet Trail". The circular hiking trail is 15.6 km, leading through light forests and extensive meadows with wonderful views of the highest Black Forest peaks, the Alps and the entire valley. There are eight sky loungers for a sensational view right in the midst of nature.
Hikers need to be in fairly good physical condition to go on the walk, as the first half of the trail goes up from 885 to 1,349 metres. The path then leads down to the Krunkelbach hut and from there over to the sunny side of the valley. You will have utterly magic views of the high valley on the last part of the trail back to the starting point.
One of the special features of the gourmet trail is the viscope - an "intelligent viewing telescope". The name of each peak on the horizon is displayed as you look at it.
